5 Ingredient Turkey and Sweet Potato Skillet

It is definitely turkey season with Thanksgiving around the corner and Christmas following along.  While the traditional turkey joint is the thing we mostly think about, there are lots of other ways you can use turkey.  I recently spotted turkey mince in the shops for the first time and this recipe uses turkey sausage.  So, get creative with that turkey!

Skillet or frying pan?

We are still fairly new to the world of the skillet, but I can already see the appeal.  Having always used a frying pan, it was interesting to try out a skillet for the first time but when the recipe says, it makes sense to use it.

Skillets aren’t as non-stick as a frying pan but if you oil them right, they can be quite non-stick.  Plus, in some recipes, that bit of stickiness is part of the recipe.  So even if you don’t have a skillet and have a frying pan, it can be worth investing in one for recipes that recommend it – you won’t regret it!

Recipe tips

Turkey sausage is a lot like pork sausage, only using different meat.  Depending on the manufacturer, there are some spices and flavourings in it.  You can also make your own with ground (minced) turkey if you don’t mind getting a bit hands-on. Alternatively, you can try using ground turkey in place of the sausage or even a different type of sausage.  It is always good to experiment!
