Best Cut of Steak for Steak Tips?
There are many different varieties of steak, and everyone has a personal preference. Budget is also an issue. However, some cuts are more difficult than others. Cuts like rump roast, brisket, eye of round steak, and chuck steak are sometimes air fried harder. London broil, rib roast, rib eye, and sirloin are excellent selections for these steak bites.

Can you use frozen steak?
It all varies, to be honest. It is generally accepted that the greatest steak is one that has never been frozen. This is because ice crystals form when the meat is frozen, altering the texture somewhat.
However, frozen steak may still be of excellent quality, and it can even be cooked on the barbecue or in the oven to great effect. I suggest using fresh or completely thawed steak for this recipe.
Can I make these steak bites without an air fryer?
It works! Before adding a little oil, the marinade, and steak bites to the skillet, make sure it’s really hot. Stir just after 2-3 minutes to finish cooking for about 4-5 minutes total. This would be ideal for using a meat thermometer.
Do you need to marinate steak tips before air frying?
Marinating is not required, but it does add flavor to steak and help to tenderize it, especially if the steak tips come from a tougher cut of beef. The steak tips can be marinated for as little as 3 hours or overnight to give them maximum taste.
If you’re in a rush, you may toss the steak tips in the marinade and air fry right away. You’ll get some of the taste, but not all of it or enough time for the steak tips to soften.
What you need to make Air Fryer Steak Tips
- 2 lbs. (900g) sirloin steak
- fresh basil, to garnish
Marinade:
- ⅓ cup (80ml) tamari
- 4 tbsp. olive oil
- ⅓ cup (80ml) lemon juice
- ¼ cup (60ml) Worcestershire sauce
- 1 ½ tbsp. garlic powder
- 3 tbsp. dried basil
- 1 ½ tbsp. dried parsley flakes
- 1 tsp. black pepper
How to make the recipe
In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the ingredients for the marinade. Toss the sirloin steaks in the mixture until coated thoroughly and then cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours).
Preheat the Air Fryer to 400°F (200°C).
Remove the steaks from the marinade and put them in the air fryer basket. Set a timer for 6 minutes, then seal the lid. If necessary, check the steaks and cook for 1-2 more minutes.
Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving with basil and your favorite sides.

Serving Ideas
I like to make air frier steak with compound butter (garlic butter or herb butter) and a side salad, but air fryer potato wedges or sweet potato fries are also fantastic. If you’re going to air fry steak and sides at the same time, cook them for 5 minutes less than the total cooking time in order to keep everything uniform.
Storing the recipe
You may freeze leftover steak and keep it in the refrigerator for up to three days.Reheat leftovers in the air fryer, air frying for 3-4 minutes until heated through.
Alternatively, you may re-warm steak in the microwave for 1-2 minutes on high, however you will get far better results if you use your air fryer.
Recipe tips
For uniform cooking, the steak tips should be air fried in a single layer. This implies you’ll most likely have to prepare them in two separate batches, especially if you have a tiny air fryer.
Depending on the brand, the size, and other factors, your fryer could be slightly different from those listed here.
To avoid harming the air fryer, use a high-quality spray oil (not PAM or any other equivalent). I prefer to fill this oil sprayer with my favorite oil.
If you want your steak tips well-done, air fry them for a few extra minutes; but be sure they don’t burn.
