How do you cut flank steak for stir fry?
The secret to cutting steak for a stir-fry is to cut it against the grain. This is the finest method to make the meat delicate. But when you cut meat from the flank, it is usually not as delicate as other cuts. This method truly does assist in the texture of the meat since it isn’t as delicate.

Do you have to tenderize flank steak?
Normally, I’d advocate tenderizing flank steak, but it’s a matter of personal choice. Although this dish includes pineapple, the fruit will take care of the task for you and you won’t have to tenderize it!
What can you use instead of flank steak?
Stir-fries are one of the most popular Chinese dishes, but the flank steak is frequently used. Skirt steak is another excellent choice. Both are less expensive beef cuts that benefit from seasonings and taste well.
What are coconut aminos, and can I use something else if I don’t have that?
Coconut aminos is a seasoning sauce produced from fermented coconut palm sap and sea salt. It’s comparable in color and texture to a light soy sauce, but it has a somewhat milder flavor and less salty taste. Coconut aminos contains less salt than ordinary soy sauce and is gluten-free, wheat-free, and soy-free.
If you happen to have tamari on hand, it can be substituted for coconut aminos. Tamari is a wheat-free Japanese seasoning sauce formed from fermented soybeans that is richer and less salty than normal soy sauce.
If you don’t have coconut aminos or tamari, soy sauce would work in a pinch.
What you need to make Pineapple Beef Stir-Fry
- 1 T. coconut oil
- 1 lb. beef flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 2½ c. pineapple chunks
- 3 T. tamari or coconut aminos
- 3 scallions (green onions), sliced thin
Optional:
- Sea salt and black pepper, to taste

How to make the recipe
In a large high-sided skillet or wok, heat the coconut oil over high heat. Add the beef and pineapple, sprinkle with a small pinch of salt and black pepper if desired, and stir-fry for 3 to 5 minutes or until meat is browned.
Arrange the broccoli florets on a platter and top with the sliced beef. In a large skillet, cook the vegetables over high heat for 2-3 minutes to fry the beef through and bring out a subtle golden hue in the pineapple.
Mix the sauce ingredients together in a mixing dish. Add the tamari or coconut aminos and cook for another 1-2 minutes, or until warm and bubbly, stirring frequently. Season with additional salt and black pepper, if necessary.
In a medium mixing glass, combine the curry powder, ground cinnamon, paprika and cumin. Combine all of the ingredients in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir well after 5 minutes to make sure that they don’t burn at the bottom.
Remove from the heat and add in the scallions. Serve immediately on individual plates.
Serving suggestions
My favorite side dish to serve with stir fry is always rice! That’s my default option – especially jasmine rice! We enjoy our stir fries with pasta, salad, pot stickers, or miso soup when we go on a stir fry kick.
Storing the recipe
Simply follow the instructions below to preserve your culinary wealth for any future need. Simply place the leftovers (if you’re fortunate enough to have any) in a storage container and store them in the fridge. Then, when you’re ready to eat, simply reheat on the stovetop low and slow or microwave for a short time.
Recipe tips
The great thing about stir fry is that it may be readily altered up. You may change the meat, as well as many of the other components, easily ad infinitum. You may choose to prepare it with chicken, pork, or even exclude the meat entirely.
I’m also a fan of experimenting with various veggies to see what flavors I enjoy the most. Broccoli, peppers, cabbage, onions, and mushrooms are some of my favorite additions. You may also add garlic, ginger, or sesame seeds for some variety! This is an easy technique to encourage your kids to eat even more of a healthy and balanced diet!
